The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust are advertising placement opportunities for 2018/19. These offer a year out between 2nd and 3rd year of degee study. The opportunities are as follows:

Lowland Game & Wildlife Research (1 placement)

Uplands Research (2 placements)

Wetland Research (1 placement)

Scottish Lowland Research (1 placement)

Farmland Ecology Research (2 placements)

GIS & Wetland Research (2 placements)

GIS & Farmland Wildlife Conservation (1 placement)

Computer Science & Wildlife Research (1 placement)

There is competition for places, so you are advised to apply as soon as possible (deadline is 3rd January). Providing:

  1. CV detailing A levels and GCSEs – results and subjects; as well as any graded university results up until the application is sent. Please ask students to include information on any paid or volunteer activities.
  2. Covering letter – Students should describe what they want out of the placement, their interest and what skills they bring to it.
  1. A references letter from a lecturer or tutor.

Insect Research Experience – Student placement opening for entomology enthusiasts starting immediately!  Excellent opportunity to get involved in real, academic research: placement will involve working with a PhD student identifying insects and other arthropods collected in Indonesia. Also, further opportunities to gain experience in data analysis and statistical modelling. Would be ideal for anybody interested in entomology or ecology wanting to get experience in insect identification, lab skills and data analysis. The placement will lasts for 2-4 weeks depending on time commitments of the candidate.
