Action for Conservation 1pm 3rd Feb in 35/1001

They are looking for workshop leaders to inspire young people (11-18) to protect the natural world. They deliver free training in engagement techniques. So, if you are interested in a career in education or science communication, this is a good opportunity for you. They are looking for graduates, so finalists, MRes students and near to completion PhD students are their primary audience, but it’s always worth attending to find out more as a 1st or 2nd year student.

 

Biodiversity internship talks 3pm 3rd Feb in 85/2207

Last summer 6 interns undertook ecological researcher positions with 2 local partners, Southampton City Council (looking at lighting effects on bats on Southampton common) and the Wildlife Trust (looking at non-native plants and another project looking at environmental stewardship scheme effects on bumblebees – together they won the Peter Brough award last year http://www.hiwwt.org.uk/news/2015/11/16/local-naturalists-win-award-research ). This was the 6th year that these projects had run and we are looking for applicants for this summer. Our primary audience will be finalists, you cannot use this projects as your dissertation.
